England sign off in style — Three Lions 3-0 Costa Rica
Thomas Tuchel's England wrapped up their World Cup warm-up programme with a polished 3-0 win over Costa Rica at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, despite a thunderstorm pushing the kick-off back by an hour. Declan Rice swept home inside nine minutes, Anthony Gordon tucked away a 68th-minute penalty and Ollie Watkins rolled in a third with three minutes left. British No. 1 Emma Raducanu made a flying grass-court start, dismantling Russia's Anna Blinkova 6-0, 6-3 in just over an hour at the HSBC Championships. Katie Boulter also progressed via her wildcard, setting up a busy Thursday at the Queen's Club women's WTA 500 event, which runs ahead of next week's men's draw.
World Cup kicks off tonight
The big talking point everywhere is the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first 48-team edition, hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Mexico face South Africa at the Estadio Azteca tonight to open a 39-day, 104-match festival that culminates at the MetLife Stadium on 19 July. ITV and the BBC share UK coverage.
