Yesterday's results & headlines
The weekend's biggest talking point is still rumbling on: Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford, with Erling Haaland's late winner allowed to stand by VAR despite City midfielder Enzo Fernandez appearing to be in an offside position in front of him. Professional Game Match Officials have since admitted the call was an "error of judgement," and United boss Michael Carrick branded the process "staggering," while Lisandro Martinez called it an "injustice." City finished the game with ten men after Phil Foden's dismissal.
It was also a miserable weekend for two of the Premier League's strugglers. Brighton & Hove Albion thrashed 10-man Coventry City 5-0 at the Coventry Building Society Arena — their joint-biggest away win in the competition — with Charalampos Kostoulas, Malick Yalcouye, Pascal Groß, Lewis Dunk and Yasin Ayari all on target after Taiwo Awoniyi was shown a straight red card. It leaves Frank Lampard's Coventry pointless and bottom of the table after four straight defeats. Aston Villa fared little better, going down 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest in their last Premier League outing and now sit in the bottom two themselves.
On the racing side, Sunday's feature at Doncaster, the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Fillies' Stakes (Group 3), went off as a red-hot renewal with 20 runners, headlined by The Prettiest Star among a strong field of three-year-old fillies and mares on good going.

It's a big night in the League Cup with four Round Three ties involving Premier League sides.
